Forbid Them Not!

June 13, 2020

[Who should we not forbid and what is being talked about?]

(Php 1:18-21 KJV) What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretense, or in truth, Messiah is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. 1:19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Yahshua the Messiah, 1:20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Messiah shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. 1:21 For to me to live is Messiah, and to die is gain.

Pretence G4392From a compound of G4253 and G5316; an outward showing, that is, pretext: - cloke, colour, pretence, show.

[All the world knows of the great preachers who have taught one thing and lived another. Many of us have come out of that background. Paul is saying no matter the heart of the teacher some will come to Yahshua through those teachings. I often warn about supporting false teachers, teachers of falsehood. These are those who mix truth with error. But that is not what Paul is saying. It is those who teach truth but do not live what they are teaching! They pretend. There is an old saying: “those that can do, those that cannot teach”. It was usually applied to men that chose school teaching rather than manual labor or business. In this case it would apply to those who do not live what they teach, but teach as if they do.]

(Mar 9:38-41 KJV And John answered Him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in Thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. 9:39 But Yahshua said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in My name, that can lightly speak evil of Me. 9:40 For he that is not against us is on our part. 9:41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in My name, because ye belong to Messiah, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

[Only jealousy motivated the forbidding. Yahshua spoke plainly and explained that if they were calling on Yahshua's name they were spreading His fame and doing a good work. If they are making their living from that teaching they would be harming themselves if they spoke ill of Him.]

(Num 11:25-29 KJV) And Yahweh came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease. 11:26 But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp. 11:27 And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp. 11:28 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them. 11:29 And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would Almighty that all Yahweh's people were prophets, and that Yahweh would put His spirit upon them!

[70 were called and two of them refused to answer the call. Still Yahweh put His spirit on them and they could not but speak. Joshua the future leader of Israel is getting a lesson which will serve him well in the future. Envy is a very human emotion and present at times within each of us. When it rears its head let us not give it a voice. When someone desires to speak for Yahweh and Yahshua no matter what we think it is not our place to silence them. If it is of Yahweh it will stand, if not it will die. We are to leave them to Yahweh. That does not mean we are to hinder, but that if we cannot support what they are saying to leave it to Yahweh to silence them.]

(Mat 10:1 KJV) And when He had called unto Him His twelve disciples, He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

[Throughout the ages there has been faith healers, many of whom were wicked in their private lives, yet Yahweh used and still uses them to heal those with the faith to be healed. I would not support them, neither would I hinder them. But pray for them and any of the called who go to them, it is our duty.]

(Mat 12:30 KJV) He that is not with Me is against Me; and he that gathereth not with Me scattereth abroad.

[Once again Yahshua points out we make a choice between righteousness and evil. There is no in between. If we are not building the kingdom then what we are doing is breaking down or scattering the people of that kingdom.]

(Joh 11:49-52 KJV) And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, 11:50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. 11:51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Yahshua should die for that nation; 11:52 And not for that nation only, but that also He should gather together in one the children of Almighty that were scattered abroad.

[Yahshua's followers were indeed scattered, but they did not leave the truth behind. They took it with them and taught and made disciples where ever they went, thus scattering the teachings of salvation through Yahshua everywhere they went. Do we do that?]

(Mar 10:13-16 KJV) And they brought young children to Him, that He should touch them: and His disciples rebuked those that brought them. 10:14 But when Yahshua saw it, He was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of Almighty. 10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of Almighty as a little child, he shall not enter therein. 10:16 And He took them up in His arms, put His hands upon them, and blessed them.

[Who is any human that they should forbid any who would come to Yahshua, no matter their age. It is a heart connection and as such can come to us at any age. Without my childhood acceptance and desire to serve I may have been forever lost into the world. Many times when living selfishly I recalled that sweet interlude of childhood when pleasing Yahshua was my highest desire. Yes, life and a lack of instruction and encouragement allowed me to drift away but Yahweh was faithful and continued to protect and call to me throughout those years. And now I have answered His call. Do not give up on those early calls, Yahweh never forgets those childish desires to serve Him. If you have not yet answered there is still time. You have done nothing He will refuse to forgive if you are willing to part from it.]

(1Co 14:36-39 KJV) What? came the word of Almighty out from you? or came it unto you only? 14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Master. 14:38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. 14:39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

Prophesy G4395 From G4396; to foretell events, divine, speak under inspiration, exercise the prophetic office: - prophesy.

Prophet G4396 From a compound of G4253 and G5346; a foreteller (“prophet”); by analogy an inspired speaker; by extension a poet: - prophet.

[Prophesy is not the subject for today, but we need to understand that all speakers who speak Yahweh's truth are under inspiration at that moment if only then. Who are we to shut their mouths, that is Yahweh's choice. If you are dealing with those who are ignorant of scripture and who seem either unwilling or unable to learn just leave them – it is their choice. Among our most conservative assemblies speaking in tongues are, if not forbidden, discouraged. Are we missing words Yahweh wants us to hear?]

(Act 10:47-48 KJV) Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Set-apart Spirit as well as we? 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Master. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

[I have spoken before about this subject. I still feel if some one asks to be baptized and calls on Yahshua's name we have no choice but to allow the rite. Let Yahweh be their judge so we will not be judged as having kept the willing outside. So here we have it! It is our job to live according to scripture, to tell the good news when and wherever we have opportunity, to live the good news as an example to the world and an encouragement to others. It is not our job to allow or disallow others to teach, that is in the hands of Yahweh and He will use who He will use!]
