Are We Waiting for the Fire To Fall?

February 22, 2020

[As I was reading in Chronicles this morning my mind drifted to how many times Yahweh sent fire from heaven and what was going on when it happened, so here it is and my desire is that it will build your trust in Yahweh's power and great love for His people.]

(2Ch 7:1-3 KJV) Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the magnificence of Yahweh filled the house. 7:2 And the priests could not enter into the house of Yahweh, because the majesty of Yahweh had filled Yahweh's house. 7:3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the magnificence of Yahweh upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised Yahweh, saying, For He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever.

[When they saw the fire they worshipped with their faces to the ground. I have not been on my face as often as I should. It seems we do not feel the need to take the place of a servant, at the feet of the master begging for mercy, or giving thanks for what we have received. But! We all know and count of His mercy enduring for us and ours. They were dedicating the first temple and it was a grand event, like nothing we have ever seen in spite of Hollywood's attempts. What Hollywood's movies leave out and cannot duplicate or fudge is Yahweh's presence. Our Father is a spirit and that is how we are to worship Him, in spirit. If our spirit's are in tune with Him we will want to fall on our faces before Him and we will

be unable to worship Him in any other manner, but as He deserves.]

(Rev 20:7-10 KJV) And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from Almighty out of heaven, and devoured them. 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever [G1519] and ever [G165].

Ever G1519 A primary preposition; to or into (indicating the point reached or entered), of place, time, or (figuratively) purpose (result, etc.); also in adverbial phrases.: - [abundant-] ly, against, among, as, at, [back-] ward, before, by, concerning, + continual, + far more exceeding, for [intent, purpose], fore, + forth, in (among, at unto, -so much that, -to), to the intent that, + of one mind, + never, of, (up-) on, + perish, + set at one again, (so) that, therefore (-unto), throughout, till, to (be, the end, -ward), (here-) until (-to), . . . ward, [where-] fore, with. Often used in composition with the same general import, but only with verbs (etc.) expressing motion (literally or figuratively).

and ever G165 From the same as G104; properly an age; by extension perpetuity (also past); by implication the world; specifically (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future): - age, course, eternal, (for) ever (-more), [n-]ever, (beginning of the, while the) world (began, without end). Compare G5550.

G104 From an obsolete primary noun (apparently meaning continued duration); “ever”; by qualification regularly; by implication earnestly: - always, ever.

G5550 Of uncertain derivation; (in genitive case, and thus properly distinguished from G2540, which designates a fixed or special occasion; and from G165, which denotes a particular period) or interval; by extension an individual opportunity; by implication delay: - + years old, season, space, (X often-) time (-s), (a) while.

[When I first studied this concept of an eternal damnation with no mercy, for death is a mercy many times and certainly in this circumstance, I could see where this was a stumbling block to a thinking people. It is not given us to judge the punishment of the wicked, that is Yahweh's job. Still I continued to search for an answer to the problem of a righteous Almighty who would dish out a punishment that would continue to give life to those who will continuously curse Him. He promises to put an end to sin, so there must be a misunderstanding of the concept. Why do I say that? Scripture tells us Yahweh can not lie.

(Tit 1:2 KJV) In hope of eternal life, which Almighty, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

[This promise is found only in the New Testament, prior to then it was apparently assumed, but by Yahshua's time people appeared to doubt this basis for faith in Yahweh. The first 'ever' G1519 says at this point in time – so the beginning of their punishment?

The second 'ever' is G165 is in this age, at the end of time?

And to go back to the original meaning or a root of the word 'ever'

G104 for a continued length of time, NOT AN CONTINUOUSLY LENGTH OF TIME.

G5550 a space of time.

My conclusion was and still is the punishment will begin at a certain point in a certain age and will continue for a SPACE OF TIME. According to my dictionary 'space' is a measure, and when speaking of time reads thus:

5a A period or interval of time b. a little while

Space G5550 Of uncertain derivation; a space of time (in genitive case, and thus properly distinguished from G2540, which designates a fixed or special occasion; and from G165, which denotes a particular period) or interval; by extension an individual opportunity; by implication delay: - + years old, season, space, (X often-) time (-s), (a) while.

[A period not a perpetuity [a state of being perpetual] which is what most churches teach. This lie against Yahweh's mercy, and the ability of Yahshua's blood be a sufficiency for those who will claim it's power, this lie has kept many away from Them. A love that tolerates sin is also a lie told everyday. Yahweh demands obedience in heart and actions from those who would share an eternity with Him. Why is this necessary? Why not just let us be and then come and do all the work in our hearts and give us what we want without effort or thankfulness? That describes the world we are living in now [free choice] and look how painful this life is for the vast majority of humanity. Why give us a new world if we are unwilling to live in a positive manner? Now having found out this truth we should be encouraged to try again, for we now know it will not kill us to fail. Each time a muscle is used it is strengthened, even the times it fails to support the frame. Even as our bodies muscles follow this pattern, so do our spiritual muscles follow this pattern. As we see from G165 it is an individual opportunity to accept salvation or to accept the rewards of disobedience, but I find no scripture that plainly states that we have a second chance after death.]

“Even as 7 days make one week

so it is

7 days without prayer makes one weak”]

(Pro 30:4-9 KJV) Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in His fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is His name, and what is His Son's name, if thou canst tell? 30:5 Every word of Almighty is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him. 30:6 Add thou not unto His words, lest He reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. 30:7 Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: 30:8 Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: 30:9 Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is Yahweh? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my Almighty in vain.

[I had to put this lesson aside for a time, so the reason for these verses, which do not deal with fire, was apparent to me as soon as I read them. This prayer is for me. I have had a problem with 'pride of place'. As a student I had to be at the top of the class. As a cleaning person I had to have the cleanest, etc. had to be at the top. Now I am old and know that is not truly the best place to be, it makes you such a target for others who are like you. So please keep this prayer for me in your hearts and minds when you think of me. I REALLY NEED YOUR PRAYER COVERING! It is my desire that the lessons and personal testimonies will bring honor to Yahweh and Yahshua and not me, I am weak and need to be held in the proper place.]

(Lev 9:22-24 KJV) And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings. 9:23 And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the magnificence of Yahweh appeared unto all the people. 9:24 And there came a fire out from before Yahweh, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

[Is this what we are waiting for? A physical sign of His presence? For me the changes in my heart, and therefore my life style, are all the proof I need to know Yahweh and Yahshua have worked a miracle in my life. All the times my life has been preserved are a far lesser miracle than my heart made new so it could love not only Yahweh and Yahshua, but also my brothers and sisters who are on this same path. Even when we disagree.]

(Num 16:28-34 KJV) And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that Yahweh hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind. 16:29 KJV) If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then Yahweh hath not sent me. 16:30 But if Yahweh make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked Yahweh. 16:31 And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them: 16:32 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. 16:33 They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. 16:34 And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.

[We are all familiar with the rebellion of Korah and here we have Yahweh's answer to that rebellion. The greater the rebellion, the greater the punishment. Every thing and every person that appertained [[all having a relationship with him]]. That included his family that lived with him. We know some of his family lived for they are later mentioned in Psalms. Notice those who were not punished fled, for they had guilty hearts. It is a very graphic example of the final punishment for all who persist in rebellion.]

(2Ki 1:1-4 KJV) Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab. 1:2 And Adaiah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god [elohim or mighty one]of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease. 1:3 But the angel of Yahweh said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a Almighty in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? 1:4 Now therefore thus saith Yahweh, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.

[(2Ki 1:2 TS2009) And Aḥazyah fell through the lattice of his upper room in Shomeron, and was injured, and sent messengers and said to them, “Go, inquire of Ba‛al-Zeḇuḇ, the mighty one of Eqron, if I shall recover from this injury.” 1:3 But a messenger of יהוה spoke to Ěliyah the Tishbite, “Rise up, go up to meet the messengers of the sovereign of Shomeron, and say to them, ‘Is it because there is no Elohim in Yisra’ěl that you are going to inquire of Ba‛al-Zeḇuḇ, the mighty one of Eqron?’

[Once again I am in disagreement with the usage of elohim, in any form, being applied to Yahweh. The enemy is distinguished as a mighty one and his name given and Yahweh is distinguished by a Capital letter to set Him apart from all who have might, not above them but part of a set. When I questioned those believers who were accepted as proficient in Hebrew about why they chose to continuously use a title that did not give Yahweh His proper place I received these answers:

“It is what the people are used to”, same excuse as Sunday for Sabbath.

“It is a good Hebrew word”, this from a man who did not use it and yet would not stand for what he appeared to feel was the correct appellation [name or title]. (after this lesson was given I found that the word elohim is not Hebrew, but the name the nations surrounding Israel used to identify those they worshipped and the Hebrews adopted it.)

(2Ki 1:9-10 KJV) Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of a hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of Almighty, the king hath said, Come down. 1:10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of Almighty, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

(2Ki 1:13-15 KJV) And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of Almighty, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight. 1:14 Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight. 1:15 And the angel of Yahweh said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.

[The king had already received his answer in verses 3 and 4 yet here he seeks Elijah, and perhaps Elijah's life, trying to change Yahweh's mind. Yet there is nothing to show the king had changed his mind, let alone his heart. It would seem to be overkill with the first two captains of 50, but look at the difference in the approach used when greeting Elijah: The first two came demanding in the name of the earthly king. The third came with a meek, respectful spirit. He gave honor to both Elijah and Yahweh for he was a child of Yahweh walking in obedience, and because his heart was right he was a safety net for Elijah, not a trap. We need to be as cautious as Elijah of those who would have us move from where Yahweh has placed us.]

(Rev 14:14 KJV) And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

[F. B. Meyers thinks the sickle and the one holding it are as follows: Son of man = Yahshua, the sickle represents great revivals that will be held in the last days and the converts they will bring in.

Matthew Henry thinks it is Yahshua and the reaping of the evil ones.

Jamieson-Fausset-Brown only give the meanings of the Greek with no comment.

John Gill agrees it is Yahshua spoken of here and states the sickle is used both for gathering and cutting down.

All agree this verse speaks of Yahshua, but cannot agree if He is cutting or gathering.]

(Rev 14:18-20 KJV) And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. 14:19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great wine press of the wrath of Almighty. 14:20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

[This is another angel. That is the plain meaning, it is not the personage spoken of in verse 14, for He is plainly designated as one who has the appearance of mankind, and is not called an angel. This group is plainly being gathered, for that is the word used in verse 19. Just as plainly this is the final gathering, be ye good or evil there is a final to all our lives as we live them now.]

20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

[Here is the final judgment on evil and all who serve it. Once again we come across 'for ever'. The very term we covered in pages 2 and 3. Is this the same 'for ever'?

Rev 20:10 KJV+ And the devil that deceived them was cast intoG1519 the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.G1519 G165 G165 ]

Ever G1519A primary preposition; to or into (indicating the point reached or entered), of place, time, or (figuratively) purpose (result, etc.); also in adverbial phrases.: - [abundant-] ly, against, among, as, at, [back-] ward, before, by, concerning, + continual, + far more exceeding, for [intent, purpose], fore, + forth, in (among, at unto, -so much that, -to), to the intent that, + of one mind, + never, of, (up-) on, + perish, + set at one again, (so) that, therefore (-unto), throughout, till, to (be, the end, -ward), (here-) until (-to), . . . ward, [where-] fore, with. Often used in composition with the same general import, but only with verbs (etc.) expressing motion (literally or figuratively.

and ever G165 From the same as G104; properly an age; by extension perpetuity (also past); by implication the world; specifically (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future): - age, course, eternal, (for) ever (-more), [n-]ever, (beginning of the, while the) world (began, without end). Compare G5550.

[So they are tormented in a place for an age. If it is perpetuity the meaning is also past, and we know this age is not in the past for we are still capable of evil and evil is alive, well, and growing stronger. This is the reason we need to work on increasing our own faith and pray to be strengthened to resist the distractions of temptations. There are all kinds of teachings that hold that evil will continuously exist, but in a prison from which they cannot escape, but which the righteous would/could gaze on. What loving heart would want to see such dispair, especially knowing their past loves were also there.

There is also teachings that all will be saved as if by this fire, since the fire will burn out the evil. But that is not what this says, nor is it what Yahshua said. I remember the attitude of a Baptist man I was giving scripture studies on this topic. He was enraged to think any who failed to walk Yahweh's path correctly would get a second chance. [[Not after death, but in this life we have many opporunties to repent and be forgiven.]] Do not let us harden our hearts toward those who struggle and fail, time and again. Instead let us offer a hand up while there is still hope for salvation.]

(Luk 13:26-30 KJV) Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in Thy presence, and Thou hast taught in our streets. 13:27-28 But He shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from Me, all ye workers of iniquityG93. 13:28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of Almighty, and you yourselves thrust out. 13:29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of Almighty. 13:30 And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.

Iniquity G93 From G94; (legal) injustice (properly the quality, by implication the act); moral wrongfulness (of character, life or act): - iniquity, unjust, unrighteousness, wrong.

[I found 5 five more scriptures that say the same thing about those that do not make it into the kingdom. Mat 13.42 and 50, 22.13, 24.51, and 25.30. I do not find a hint those who are in the place of weeping/wailing and the gashing of teeth ever repent. We all know true repentance is a turning from all evil and turning to Yahweh's Torah. There is no place I find hope for the unrepentant. But we are not in that group and if we truly love Yahweh and Yahshua we will strive to fashion lives that follow Yahshua's examples. We will not wait for fire from heaven before we act on Their wishes. We will acknowledge the position of authority Yahweh and Yahshua hold and act accordingly and encourage others to do the same. It is not wrong to ask for a sign, but scripture study and prayer will give you a clearer picture of where and how you should walk to give the proper honor to both Yahweh and Yahshua. That same past-time of study will allow you to reconize Yahweh's voice for it will always, always speak truth, and agree with scripture!!!]
