Our Temple

November 14, 2020

[With all the talk about the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem I thought we should look and see what the scriptures say about temples.]

(Joh 2:18-21 KJV) Then answered the Jews and said unto Him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? 2:19 Yahshua answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 2:21 But He spake of the temple of His body.

[Yahshua our example! A temple is a place of worship, not something to worship. We are cautioned to pray without ceasing. We know that Yahshua is our example and here He equates His body to a temple, a place where worship takes place. Is that what is going on in our bodies?]

(Mat 12:38-41 KJV) Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 12:39 But He answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 12:41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

[Yahshua was a preacher, one who teaches the truths of scripture. The sign I received was my changed heart, what greater sign could there be, for which I can testify, for it is in me. It is my heart and mind that have been changed and that makes my body a fit place to worship Yahweh and Yahshua for we are in agreement.]

(2Co 1:16-22 KJV) And to pass by you into Macedonia, and to come again out of Macedonia unto you, and of you to be brought on my way toward Judaea. 1:17 When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay? 1:18 But as Almighty is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay. 1:19 For the Son of Almighty, Yahshua Messiah, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. 1:20 For all the promises of Almighty in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the magnification of Almighty by us. 1:21 Now He which stablisheth us with you in Messiah, and hath anointed us, is Yahweh; 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

[Yahweh our true Father has sealed us and put His spirit in our hearts. Surely then we want to be fit temples for that spirit.]

(Rom 8:10-14 KJV) And if Messiah be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Yahshua from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Messiah from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you. 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of Yahweh, they are the sons of Yahweh.

[Our bodies, flesh and bone, are given us as a gift and we have free choice on how we treat them and where and what we do. BUT if Messiah Yahshua is in us we will live so as to keep our bodies clean, within and without, thus providing that spirit a temple worthy of their presence.]

(Gal 5:13-18 KJV) For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 5:15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

[Our flesh wars against the things of the spirit because they can not live together in peace. The flesh wants its desires to be met and Yahweh’s spirit in us calls us to purity in all we do, think, and feel. To be under the law you have to have broken the law else the law has no ill effect on your life. We are called to live out the spirit of love which is the basis for Torah. Torah teaches us how to live together in peace and harmony, and if we are loving each other in the spirit we are living above the law.]

(Gal 5:19-26 KJV) Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of Almighty. 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 5:24 And they that are Messiah's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 5:26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

[Not all sins of the flesh are listed but the phase ‘such like’ covers the rest. If we are taking part in any such actions or thoughts we are risking our entrance into the kingdom of Yahweh. This life is short compared to eternity. To use your free choice to indulge the desires of the flesh played out in your thoughts is risky business for none of us knows the time of our demise. Where we are spiritually at that point is what will determine our future destination. See Ezekiel 3]

(Gal 6:1-10 KJV) Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Messiah. 6:3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. 6:4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 6:5 For every man shall bear his own burden. 6:6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. 6:7 Be not deceived; Almighty is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

[Verse 2 and 5 seem to contradict each other but they do not. Each of us must bear the consequences of our own choices, therefore we must bear this burden alone. But when we see a fellow believer straying we who are walking the path of right living, through the power of Yahweh’s spirit in us, should seek to show the erring one where they have stepped off the path. Not setting ourselves up as a good example but with scripture showing them where they err. Speak peaceable and non-judgmental words with loving hearts, showing our desire for their best interests. There is always a choice to be made. Do we seek the pleasures of today or do we step away from the fleshy desires for the peace that Yahweh gives as we live for Him by sharing the good we have, especially with other believers.]

(Eph 2:10-22 KJV) For we are His workmanship, created in Messiah Yahshua unto good works, which Yahweh hath before ordained that we should walk in them.2:11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; 2:12 That at that time ye were without Messiah, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without Almighty in the world: 2:13 But now in Messiah Yahshua ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Messiah. 2:14 For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 2:15 Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 2:16 And that He might reconcile both unto Almighty in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

2:18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of Yahweh; 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Yahshua Messiah Himself being the chief corner stone; 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an set-apart temple in the Messiah: 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of Yahweh through the Spirit.

[There was a physical wall within the temple past which no one not born a Jew in the flesh was allowed to pass, thus creating a class system devised by man and not by Yahweh. By the giving of the Set-apart spirit to mankind all who worship Yahweh and Yahshua are united in one spirit thus creating a temple fit for the worship of Yahweh. Scripture plainly states there are those who belong to Yahweh who do not belong to a flock resembling ours, but they are still His for their hearts are right with His heart.]

(Eph 3:14-21 KJV For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Master Yahshua Messiah, 3:15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 3:16 That He would grant you, according to the riches of His honor, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; 3:17 That Messiah may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 3:19 And to know the love of Messiah, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of Almighty. 3:20 Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 3:21 Unto Him be honor in the church by Messiah Yahshua throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

[His spirit in us, in our hearts, leads us to love both Father and Son and each other. We are to be rooted and grounded in the love exemplified by Yahweh and Yahshua who work together for our salvation. Torah is a book of love for it shows us how to live a loving life style, rather than a legal life style lived without pity or love for others.]

(Eph 4:17-32 KJV) This I say therefore, and testify in the Master, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of Yahweh through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 4:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 4:20 But ye have not so learned Messiah; 4:21 If so be that ye have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Yahshua: 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after Almighty is created in righteousness and true set-apartness. 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 4:27 Neither give place to the devil. 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 4:30 And grieve not the Set-apart Spirit of Yahweh, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as Yahweh for Messiah's sake hath forgiven you.

[How do we grieve the Set-apart Spirit? With acts of unkindness, un-forgiveness, bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking and malice/spitefulness. If we truly are a temple bearing about in our bodies the Set-apart Spirit of Yahweh that temple will not allow entrance to those evils for they come from the enemy of Yahweh who also hates Yahweh’s children.]

(1Th 4:1-12 KJV) Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Master Yahshua that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please Yahweh, so ye would abound more and more. 4:2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Master Yahshua. 4:3 For this is the will of Almighty, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: 4:4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; 4:5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not Almighty: 4:6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Master is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. 4:7 For Almighty hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto set-apartness. 4:8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but Almighty, who hath also given unto us His Set-apart Spirit. 4:9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of Almighty to love one another. 4:10 And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more; 4:11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; 4:12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

Concupiscence, G1939 From G1937; a longing (especially for what is forbidden): - concupiscence, desire, lust (after).

[We need to remember that the thoughts of our hearts can be sinful even if we do not act on them. To allow ourselves to dwell on sin is sin. Others may not realize where your thoughts are but they are no secret from Yahweh. Our hearts are to be reflected in our daily walk even if no one else is there to observe.]

(Pro 23:5-8 KJV) Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. 23:6 Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. 23:8 The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.

[If we are friends with the worldly who do not desire a relationship with Yahweh their thoughts toward us will not be to build us up, but how they can prove we are no better than they.]

(1Jn 3:1-3 KJV) Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of Yahweh: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not. 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of Yahweh, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as he is. 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.

[Do not worry what our redeemed bodies will look like for as Yahshua appears so will we appear.]

(1Jn 4:1-11 KJV) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of Almighty: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of Almighty: Every spirit that confesseth that Yahshua Messiah is come in the flesh is of Almighty: 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Yahshua Messiah is come in the flesh is not of Almighty: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4:4 Ye are of Almighty, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 4:6 We are of Almighty: he that knoweth Almighty heareth us; he that is not of Almighty heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of Almighty; and every one that loveth is born of Almighty, and knoweth Almighty. 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not Almighty; for Almighty is love. 4:9 In this was manifested the love of Almighty toward us, because that Almighty sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved Almighty, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 4:11 Beloved, if Almighty so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

[If we are truly converted we will be showing forth the same character as Yahshua. Ours may need more polish but Yahweh’s spirit in us is all the polishing power we need if we yield our will to blend with His we will gain the victory.]

(1Jn 4:12-17 KJV) No man hath seen Yahweh at any time. If we love one another, Yahweh dwelleth in us, and His love is perfected in us. 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He hath given us of His Spirit. 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Yahshua is the Son of Yahweh Yahweh dwelleth in him, and he in Yahweh. 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that Almighty hath to us. Almighty is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in Almighty, and Almighty in him. 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world.

(1Co 6:19-20 KJV) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Set-apart Spirit which is in you, which ye have of Almighty, and ye are not your own?6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore magnify Yahweh in your body, and in your spirit, which are Yahweh's.

[How can we know these things? The testimony is in our thoughts and deeds and what spirit they reflect. We cannot repay the price we were bought with therefore we are called to render due diligence by walking the walk set out by scripture as the walk fitting for the children of the King of kings. Let us all strive to have purity in our hearts and minds that our bodies will be fit places for Yahweh’s and Yahshua’s spirits to dwell.]
