You Shall Know
October 3, 2020
[I read this phrase and I want to know what it is I should know. When I did a word search I found only 4 of my versions had this statement in them several times and two had it only once. The rest were not this clear that Yahweh wants us to know Him and His power, also His great love for the children He created. There are those children He loves less because of their refusal to truly love Him, but still He gives each a chance to know His love at least once in their lives.]
(Exo 6:1-8 ISV) Yahweh told Moses, "Now you will see what I'll do to Pharaoh. Indeed, he'll send them out under compulsion and he'll drive them out of his land violently." 6:2 Later, Almighty told Moses, "I am Yahweh. 6:3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as the Self-existent Almighty, and did I not reveal to them My name 'Yahweh'? 6:4 I also established My covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land where they lived as resident aliens for a time. 6:5 Also, I've heard the groaning of the Israelis whom the Egyptians have forced to labor for them, and I've remembered My covenant. 6:6 Therefore, say to the Israelis, 'I am Yahweh. I'll bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I'll deliver you from their bondage. I'll redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment. 6:7 I'll take you for My own people, and I'll be your Almighty. Then you will know that I am Yahweh your Almighty who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 6:8 I'll bring you to the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. I'll give it to you as a possession. I am Yahweh.'"
[Verse 3 is highlighted because it is important for us to remember where this scripture is and what versions plainly say Yahweh has always been His name.
All of Exodus is a testimony of Yahweh’s great love and His patience with a self determined people. They are determined to direct their own path, but continue to expect the provisions of Yahweh. We have not seen what they saw but most of us are old enough to remember when the nation of Israel was re-established in 1948 in a one day war. Yahweh is bringing to pass what He has promised to those who bear His Name.]
(Exo 16:6-9 ISV) So Moses and Aaron addressed the entire congregation of the Israelis, "This evening you will know that Yahweh has brought you out of the land of Egypt, 16:7 and in the morning you will see the splendor of Yahweh, for He has heard your complaints against Him. After all, who are we that you complain against us?" 16:8 Moses also said, "When Yahweh gives you meat to eat in the evening, and bread in the morning to satisfy you, Yahweh will hear your complaints directed against Him. Who are we? Your complaints aren't against us, but rather against Yahweh." 16:9 Then Moses instructed Aaron, "Say to the whole congregation of the Israelis, 'Come near into Yahweh's presence, because He has heard your complaints.'"
[Egypt has often been equated with a sinful action or life style. It would be well to remember that it was Yahweh who set you free and to thank Him, not complain when He asks us to do the uncomfortable. This is the chapter I most often use to refute the Lunar Sabbath lies that steal the Sabbath from its rightful place.
They were complaining about food and drink so Yahweh uses this place to teach them about the Sabbath and to promise them food of their choice until it sickens them. Then He gave them the manna which not only fills but satisfies and does not sicken. He also gave them the Sabbath and since they had just left slavery you would have thought they would appreciate a day of rest. But Sabbath rest has always seemed to be hard for humans.]
(Eze 36:9-15 ISV) "Watch Me! I'm on your side! I'll be turning in your direction, and you mountains will be plowed and planted. 36:10 I'm going to make the entire house of Israel grow—every single member—and their cities will be inhabited with all the ruins rebuilt. 36:11 I'll make both the population and the livestock increase throughout your territories. They'll increase and be fruitful. I'll make your territories to be settled like you were in the past, and you will be treated better than you ever were before. At that time you will know that I am Yahweh. 36:12 I'll lead My people, My nation of Israel, across you mountains, and they will take possession of you again, and you'll be their inheritance once more. Never again will you leave them robbed of children. 36:13 "This is what Yahweh Almighty says: 'Because some have been saying to you, "You mountains have been devouring human beings and leaving people childless," 36:14 'therefore you will no longer devour human beings or leave their nation childless,' declares Yahweh Almighty. 36:15 'I won't let you hear other people mock you, and no nation will ever make you childless again,' declares Yahweh, Almighty.
[We are at a time when we should be watching to see what Yahweh will do and what He is doing in our personal and national lives as well as internationally. We need to remember, as did Israel of old that Yahweh is on our side as long as we do not kick Him out.]
(Joe 2:13-17 ISV) Tear your hearts, not your garments; and turn back to Yahweh your Almighty. For He is gracious and compassionate, slow to become angry, overflowing in gracious love, and grieves about this evil. 2:14 Who knows? He will turn back and relent, will He not, leaving behind a blessing, even a grain offering and drink offering for Yahweh your Almighty?" 2:15 "Sound the ram's horn in Zion! Dedicate a fast and call for a solemn assembly! 2:16 Gather the people! Dedicate the congregation! Bring in the elders. Gather the youngsters and even the nursing infants. Call the bridegroom from his wedding preparations, and the bride from her dressing room. 2:17 As they serve between the porch and the altar, let the priests and ministers of Yahweh weep and pray: 'Spare your people, Yahweh, and do not make your heritage a disgrace so that nations ridicule them. Why should they say among the people, "Where is their Almighty?"'"
[This could be said of our nation today. Our leaders have sold us for nothing and now we cry to Yahweh for deliverance from the plagues besetting our land, both physical and spiritual.]
(Joe 2:18-27 ISV) Then Yahweh will show great concern for His land, and will have compassion on His people. 2:19 Yahweh will say to His people, "Look! I will send you grain, new wine, and oil, and you will be content with them. I will no longer cause you to be a disgrace among the nations." 2:20 "I will remove the northerners from you, driving them to a barren and desolate land—the front toward the Dead Sea and the back toward the Mediterranean. Their stench will rise, and their stinking odor will ascend, because they have done great things." 2:21 "Stop being afraid, land! Rejoice and be glad, because Yahweh will do great things. 2:22 Stop being afraid, beasts of the field, because the desert pastures will bloom, the trees will bear their fruit, and the fig tree and vine will deliver their wealth. 2:23 And so be glad, children of Zion, and rejoice in Yahweh your Almighty, because He has given you the right amount of early rain, and He will cause the rain to fall for you, both the early rain and the later rain as before. 2:24 The threshing floors will be smothered in grain, and the vats will overflow with wine and oil. 2:25 "Then I will restore to you the years that the locust swarm devoured, as did the young locust, the other locusts, and the ravaging locust, that great army of Mine that I sent among you. 2:26 You will have plenty to eat, and will be fully satisfied. You will praise the name of Yahweh your Almighty, who has performed wonders specifically for you. And My people will never be ashamed. 2:27 As a result, you will know that I am in the midst of Israel; that I Myself am Yahweh your Almighty—and there is none other! And My people will never be ashamed."
[The day is coming, it may be in the thousand years of peace, for it talks of a time when there are others besides Yahweh’s people, no matter it will come. A time when physical Israel will ring with Yahweh’s name and not just titles. When Israel, all of the called out ones, will gladly live as Yahweh declares, and will do so gladly and with the entire heart.]
(Zec 6:12-15 ISV) Then tell him, 'This is what Yahweh of the Heavenly Armies says: "Here is the man whose name is The Branch. He will branch out from where he is and will rebuild the Temple of Yahweh. 6:13 Yes, he will indeed rebuild the Temple of Yahweh, and he will exalt its majesty by sitting and ruling on his throne. He will serve as priest on his throne, and no contention will exist between them. 6:14 The crowns will go to Helem, to Tobijah, to Jedaiah, and to Zephaniah's son Hen, as a memorial in the Temple of Yahweh. 6:15 Those who are now far away will come and do reconstruction work in the Temple of Yahweh. Then you will know that Yahweh of the Heavenly Armies has sent me to you. This will come about if you diligently obey the voice of Yahweh your Almighty."'"
[Rabbi Rashi says this is Zerubbabel who was the civic leader and would in league with Joshua as the spiritual leader rule the rehabilitated state.
I believe as is generally taught that it is Yahshua who is being designated here. This is a promised we can count on if we diligently obey Yahweh. There is a great deal of money going toward the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem, and it is coming from many nations, ours included.]
(Joh 8:31-36 ISV) So Yahshua told those Jews who had believed in Him, "If you continue in My word, you are really My disciples. 8:32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." 8:33 They replied to Him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves to anybody. So how can you say, 'You will be set free'?" 8:34 Yahshua answered them, "Truly, I tell all of you with certainty that everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. 8:35 The slave does not remain in the household forever, but the son does remain forever. 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!"
[Our freedom in Yahshua is not the freedom to do as we please, but the freedom to worship Him as He dictates. When we come into covenant with Yahweh we do indeed agree to do as He says, gladly. In return we are never alone again. You may not ‘feel’ His presence but you can! How does it happen? It happens as you study and apply His requirements to yourself as they are applicable. His voice always agrees with scripture, and as you become more familiar with His written words you will be better able to discern His spoken words in you mind and ear.
If you have something in your life that is displeasing to Him it will be hard to hear Him for He cannot abide where sin exists less He destroy it, so He speaks as from a far distance and is hard indeed to be heard and understood. If we love Him we will be willing to repent as soon as we find ourselves on a path, or speaking words that He has spoken against. Repentance is the path to salvation and that is the path to a loving relationship with Yahweh our Father and Yahshua our Elder Brother.]
(Joh 14:15-21 ISV) "If you love Me, keep My commandments. 14:16 I will ask the Father to give you another Helper, to be with you always. 14:17 He is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor recognizes Him. But you recognize Him, because He lives with you and will be in you. 14:18 I am not going to forsake you like orphans. I will come back to you. 14:19 "In a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. 14:20 At that time you will know that I am in My Father, that you are in Me, and that I am in you. 14:21 The person who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I, too, will love him and reveal Myself to him."
[So what will we know? Yahweh loves us and if we love Him we will be walking in obedience without complaint. It seems it is our nature to be complainers. We do it without thought day after day. I do not think that we realize that when we complain against our circumstances we are complaining against Yahweh stating He is not keeping His promises. When our circumstances are unhappy that is the time to get on our knees and apologize and ask Him to show us what WE are doing wrong. It is not always physical, it is more often our thoughts that get us in trouble for we do not always guard what we allow ourselves to dwell on. Be it physical or spiritual He has promised that we shall know what is true and that truth, acted on will set us free. It is not enough to think on it for without action those thoughts will not lead to freedom. Yahshua opens the door for the prisoner of sin, but in order for that prisoner to be freed they have to go out the door before it closes for all time. Yahweh is patient, but we do not know the hour of our departure from this life to the grave, but even He will allow only so much rebellion in those who claim they know Him. ]
(Eze 3:19 ISV) If you warn the wicked person, and he doesn't repent of his wickedness or of his wicked behavior, he'll die in his sin, but you will have saved your own life."
(Pro 25:11 KJV) A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
(Jas 5:16 KJV) Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
(Eze 18:20-22 ISV) The soul who sins dies. The son won't bear the punishment of his father's sin and the father won't bear the punishment of his son's sin. The righteous deeds of that righteous person will be attributed to him, while the wicked deeds of the wicked person will be charged against him. 18:21 But if the wicked person turns from all his sins, which he did and keeps My statutes, then he'll live. He won't die. 18:22 None of the transgressions that he had committed will be held against him. Because of the righteous deeds that he had done, he'll live.
(Eze 33:8-15 ISV) If I should say to a certain wicked person, "You wicked man, you're certainly about to die," but you don't warn him to turn from his wicked behavior, he'll die in his guilt, but I'll seek retribution for his bloodshed from you. 33:9 However, if you warn the wicked to turn from his behavior and he does not do so, he will die in his guilt, and you will have saved yourself.'" 33:12 "'And now, Son of Man, say this to your people: "The righteousness of the righteous won't save them when they keep on committing crimes against me, the wickedness of the wicked won't keep them from remaining away when they're turning from their wickedness, and no righteous person will keep on living by their righteousness when they sin. 33:13 "If I tell the righteous person that he will certainly live, if he trusts in his own righteousness and commits evil, none of his righteousness will be remembered, and he will die because of the wrong that he commits. 33:14 "If I tell the wicked person that he will certainly die, if he turns from his sin and acts with justice and righteousness, 33:15 returning what has been placed as collateral for a loan, paying back what he has taken, following the regulations that promote life, and committing no iniquity, he will certainly live, and not die.
[We have a duty to warn those who know they are wicked, but we also have a duty to warn those who do not realize where their choices are leading them. Eze.33.12 is plain! The truly righteous will not be sinning claiming they have the right to do so in the power of Yahshua’s blood which set them free from the law. Verse 15 lays out what the repentant will live like.]
(Gal 4:7-11 ISV) So you are no longer a slave but a child, and if you are a child, then you are also an heir because of what Almighty did. 4:8 However, in the past, when you did not know Almighty, you were slaves to things that are not really gods [mighty ones] at all. 4:9 But now that you know Almighty, or rather have been known by Almighty, how can you turn back again to those powerless and bankrupt basic principles? Why do you want to become their slaves all over again? 4:10 You are observing days, months, seasons, and years. 4:11 I am afraid for you! I don't want my work for you to have been wasted!
from J-F-B Commentary
“So regard the observance of certain days as in itself meritorious as a work, is alien to the free spirit of Christianity. This is not incompatible with observing the Sabbath or the Christian Lord’s day as obligatory, though not as a work (which was the Jewish and Gentile error in the observance of days), but as a holy mean appointed by the Lord for attaining the great end, holiness. The whole life alike belongs to the Lord in the Gospel view, just as the whole world, and not the Jews only, belong to Him. But as in Paradise, so now one portion of time is needed wherein to draw off the soul more entirely from secular business to Yahweh (Col_2:16). “Sabbaths, new moons, and set feasts” (1Ch_23:31; 2Ch_31:3), answer to “days, months, times.” “Months,” however, may refer to the first and seventh months, which were sacred on account of the number of feasts in them.
times — Greek, “seasons,” namely, those of the three great feasts, the Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles.
years — The sabbatical year was about the time of writing this Epistle, a.d. 48 [Bengel].”
[I am in partial agreement with the above, we do need these set-apart times to keep us in touch with Yahweh and Yahshua. It is too easy to get caught up in ‘good works’ and look at them as obedience to the set-apart times. Those times are for worship of Yahweh, not the works of man, and also for the dreaded command to rest. Rest = cession and it is hard for us to truly cease from action. We have come to believe all kinds of distractions are equal to rest since they are surely a change of pace. If you wish to really know Yahweh you will have to learn how to rest so you can be renewed as well as refreshed. Regarding the reference to the set-apart times I believe they were keeping them incorrectly or as a good work that earned them a reward. How often have I heard the complaint, ‘I/we have been in church every time it was open and what has it got me/us?’. This is the attitude that Paul is talking about, and our attitudes do count.
By any measure I am an old woman and have walked this walk for half of my life. This walk is ever changing as we learn and apply scripture to our lives we come closer to Yahweh and Yahshua and that will be noticeable to those around us. I have been asked if I have ever regretted the choice to get and stay on this path. My answer is no, never! All I have to do is compare my emotional and physical well being as I enjoy it today to the misery of the ‘before Yahweh’ time and I can only praise Him for the great gift He has given me through His Son Yahshua. The changes did not happen over night, nor have they ceased, for I am still adjusting my thinking and desires to match what my Father desires in my heart and life. If I no longer had the need to change I probably would not be here since imperfection can not live with perfection.]
